Job Description:
Plymouth State University is seeking two qualified Field Technicians to assist a Master's thesis project investigating the potential impacts of wind power development on breeding populations of the Bicknell’s Thrush. This is the final season of a three year study by Plymouth State University and the New Hampshire Department of Fish and Game in assessing avian response to the construction of a wind park in Coos County of Northern New Hampshire. Duties will include: conducting avian point counts, capture using mist nets, fitting individuals with radio transmitters and bands, tracking by radio- telemetry, and vegetation sampling. The position will require consistent early mornings, independent navigation through difficult terrain inherent in the rugged but beautiful high elevation spruce-fir forest, ability to gracefully cope with unpleasant weather and insects, intermittent camping, and data entry. Housing will be provided, any use of personal vehicle will be reimbursed at 45c/mile. Stipend of $1000-2000 a month provided depending on experience.

Qualifications:
Applicants must have a positive attitude, be comfortable working alone or with a team, and be in good physical condition. The ability to identify eastern bird species by sight and sound is required. A strong preference will be given to those with previous handling experience, and an affinity for working and traveling in mountainous terrain. Radio telemetry experience is helpful but not necessary
