The Cornell Lab of Ornithology is seeking a Multimedia Manager to lead the development and management of live streaming broadcasts of bird cams on Ustream and the All About Birds website, AllAboutBirds.org, a Webby-award-winning site that reaches 6 million unique visitors per year. By developing new partnerships, advising on latest live streaming technologies, and expanding the cams program, the Multimedia Manager will engage tens of millions of people in the science and wonder of birds. The Cornell Lab is a nonprofit, member-supported organization and a vibrant administrative unit of Cornell University’s College of Agriculture and Life Sciences. Duties include: **The Multimedia Manager brings together technical expertise in live Internet streaming technology and social media; sound judgment and outstanding communications skills to represent the Cornell Lab in high-profile online forums; knowledge of birds and natural history; and management of complex projects involving multiple stakeholders. **Lead all aspects of the All About Birds Cams project, including collaborating with clients to determine scope, costs, timeline, and deliverables and ensuring requirements of cam hosts, users, and internal stakeholders are met. **Assemble and direct teams including online commentators, tech support staff, web designers, programmers, writers, and editors to launch, update, and maintain websites. **Troubleshoot and resolve technology glitches; implement and advise on live cam set-ups. **Greatly expand program from seasonal U.S. cams to international, year-round cams, competitive with other cams reaching hundreds of millions of viewers. **Continually seek ways to increase quality of experience. **Ensure delivery of highest quality interpretation of bird behaviors in live forums and oversee selection, process, and storage of archived footage. **Advise on marketing opportunities to expand viewership.

Qualifications:
Required Qualifications: **Bachelor degree and 2-3 years experience in online or multimedia communications. **Knowledge of birds, bird biology, and the birding community. **Prior experience with online communications or web development, especially live Internet broadcasting technology and infrastructure. **Demonstrated skills in project management and coordination are essential, along with excellent communication skills, including writing and public speaking. **Ability to communicate with a broad range of people with tact and diplomacy. **Mastery of common computer skills including word and image processing, spreadsheets, and email. **Willingness to learn new software and technology. **Experience that demonstrates initiative, sound judgment, creativity, and problem-solving skills. **Must be able to work independently and as part of a team. **Attention to detail and organizational skills are critical. **A proven ability to manage multiple areas and deadlines simultaneously, and demonstrated ability to cultivate and maintain collaborative and effective work relations with all levels of management, staff, administration, and academic personnel. **Ability to travel to remote locations as needed. Preferred Qualifications: **5 years experience. **Familiarity and proficiency with the World Wide Web and content management systems (e.g, Wordpress). **Experience in growing audiences through social media and Ustream. **Advanced degree highly preferred.
