WEST, Inc. is looking for a project manager with the proven ability for problem-solving and working with and supervising others. Primary duties include field work, field supervision of biological technicians, and report preparation. This will include conducting and supervising pre- and post-construction studies of birds, bats, and other wildlife associated with wind power facilities as well as preparing proposals and reports. Other duties will include wetland delineations, habitat mapping, site evaluations for suitability for T & E and special status/sensitive species, and conducting other ecological projects associated with larger multidisciplinary research investigations (e.g., large pipeline projects, transmission lines). Project management may include making new professional contacts as well as diversifying project and client base. Travel throughout the Eastern U.S. is required with some travel outside the region a possibility. Qualifications:
Master’s degree required; Ph.D. in wildlife ecology or related field is preferred. At least five years of related work experience are required. Must be able to work independently and interact positively with other managers, clients, landowners, and field personnel. Proposal preparation, technical writing, file organization, data management, and familiarity with various computer software (including word processing and spreadsheets) are essential in this position. Applicants should have experience designing and conducting wildlife research. Experience conducting research at wind-energy facilities, environmental consulting, conducting studies of bird and bat ecology, wetland delineations, and terrestrial surveys are pluses. Good fitness and skilled use of topographic maps, GPS units, and other field equipment are required. Familiarity with statistical software and/or GIS software and hardware is favorable. Investigation into driving record will be conducted. Driving record must meet WEST safety standards to operate motor vehicle on behalf of WEST, Inc. Failure to meet WEST driving standard will disqualify candidate for position or rescind offer. Background check may be conducted on final candidates. Contract may require drug testing, and if so, must be able to pass drug screening criteria. Failure to meet any of these or any of WEST’s safety standards will disqualify candidates.
