Job Description: Work with a team of researchers on an interdisciplinary study looking at the effects of Marcellus shale exploration and development on Pennsylvania’s forest ecosystem. The specific project will be to assess and quantify the response of birds and other wildlife to habitat changes associated with natural gas infrastructure including linear corridors created within forest habitat by roads and pipelines (gathering lines, intra and interstate pipelines) and noise created by compressor stations. Support includes an annual stipend and tuition waiver.
Qualifications: Qualifications: M.S. in wildlife ecology or related discipline, ability to identify forest birds by sight and sound, familiarity and experience working with GIS and remote sensing data, experience with methods of habitat evaluation, excellence in written and oral communication and ability to work in a politically charged environment.
