Job Description:
The new Aeroecology Program at the University of Delaware has available a one-year Post Doctoral Researcher position starting 1 January 2012 to assist in modeling landbird distributions during migratory stopover along the south Atlantic coast. This project involves using weather radar observations to map bird distributions and developing statistical models to predict potentially important stopover sites in areas not sampled by the radars. Qualifications for the position include a Ph.D. in ecology or related wildlife field, knowledge of migratory birds, solid understanding and capabilities in GIS, and a demonstrated expertise in quantitative spatial analysis methods. Experience with weather radar and computer programming capabilities are preferred. The position will be based at the University of Delaware in Newark, DE and includes a stipend of $50,750/year plus full benefits.
