Job Description:
A technician is needed to assist in the study of Cooper’s hawks at various field sites in Vancouver and the Lower Mainland, British Columbia. The technician will assist in nest searches, nest monitoring, trapping, banding, and tracking using radio telemetry. Goals: Across an urban gradient, Cooper’s hawks reproductive success will be monitored (clutch size, hatch success, fledge success) and blood samples taken to measure concentrations of persistent organic pollutants.

Qualifications:
Previous work with tracking wildlife using radio telemetry, raptor identification, understanding of avian reproductive biology, own vehicle required (mileage will be reimbursed) and must be enthusiastic as the technician needs be at the field site before dawn. The technician will be responsible for their own accommodations. Pay rate: $1800-$2000/month, depending on experience.
