NAOC 2006 Logo

The IV NAOC logo was designed by Julio César Montero and selected through a contest organized by Dr. Patricia Escalante of the Instituto de Biología at UNAM and CIPAMEX.  The three birds depicted (counterclockwise, from top) are representatives of three important ecological components of the Veracruzan avifauna: the Mexican Sheartail (Doricha eliza), a year-round resident endemic to central Veracruz and the Northern tip of the Yucatán Peninsula; the Scissor-tailed Flycatcher (Tyrannus forficatus) a species with year-round and migrant populations, and the Swainson’s Hawk (Buteo swainsoni) a Neotropical migrant species with transient populations in spring and fall.
